1. What is the concept behind fine 727Gallery?

An edition is a set of identical prints created by an artist from the same stencil. The concept of a “limited edition” is vital for printmakers and collectors to distinguish an original art print from a reproduction.

It is generally recognized that the smaller the edition, the more valuable the print. So as well as authenticating prints with their signature, artists will number their editions, usually in pencil, in the margins.

Each is noted as a fraction of the agreed print run, providing collectors with a guarantee of the work’s originality.

  • 2. How do I know that the artworks are authentic?

As with all art, provenance is key to determining if a work is by the artist or a fake. However, with artists like Banksy, the early works were often sold without receipt because most people could not fathom that his works would sell at auction and in the private market at the value which they have. However, his career has only spanned for the last 20 years so finding provenance, even with his anonymity still in place, is not the most difficult thing.

Weng Contemporary sources its artworks from the most reputable dealers, galleries, and auction houses in the world. Artworks are carefully examined before being listed on our website. Furthermore, the majority of editions by contemporary artists sold on 727Gallery come directly from the artist’s studio.

Our team of experts would be happy to advise you on all matters personally. Please contact us via e-mail at 727gallery@gmail.com and we will come back to you within two business days.
